The internal revenue reports' for the fiscal year ending June 80, 1912, are just out, and show a decrease" in the consumption of liquor over the year preceding amounting to almost one gallon for every man, woman and child in America. Before these reports were com pleted, one of the revenue commis sioners, who has always sought to help the liquor cause In every -way in his power, sent out through the press from time to time during the last' year statements tending to show that there was an ; increase in the consumption of liquor last year. inis ne would do by taking, the re turns from some one district con taining some' pf the largest and wettest cities and making it appear asrrepresenting the whole 1 county. Bu t the final report shows a remark able decrease, and that m the face I of a great increase, in our populi tion by immigration. President Farley, of the National Liquor Dealers' Association, in his annual report made recently to his association, stated ' that thirty-one breweries closed last year and tbat I the output of beer alone decreased 1,106,446 barrels.
